Welcome to Gal Oya Lodge
Gal Oya Lodge is a stunning, quasi-African-style safari lodge set in Sri Lanka’s beautifully untouched Gal Oya National Park, towards the east of the island.
Away from the more trodden routes, the park is a hot-bed of the country’s eclectic wildlife and at certain times of year there can be herds of up to 40 elephant. Its bird-life is the envy of any other park on the island and leopard, though perhaps more easily spotted in the crowded parks, are sometimes seen.
Gal Oya Lodge really champions a responsible, more discreet kind of wildlife tourism – one you’ll enjoy in quiet and beautiful isolation.
Private lodge luxury
Gal Oya offers a collection of nine beautifully designed bungalows, each set some distance from one another. All have thatched roofs, polished cement floors, and large four-poster beds.
Each bungalow echoes the African style of the main lodge and boasts its own unique view from a private verandah.
In addition to the bungalows, Gal Oya offers a villa joining two large bedrooms via a spacious living room.
Expert guiding away from the crowds
Gal Oya rightly prides itself on the passion and expertise of its guides. It has a team of 5 trained naturalists ready to take you on anything from short bird-spotting walks to all day safaris.
Away from their guiding duties, the team is working closely with the Park on a range of ecological research and conservation projects.
